In order to anticipate the growing demand for charging places for electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles, the Saône-et-Loire Departmental Energy Union (Sydesl) has developed an infrastructure development master plan covering this need. “This plan is only a prospective vision of the needs of the territory. It is based on a panel of hypotheses,” indicates the mayor, Vincent Chauvet. In its reflection, Sydesl wanted to put in place a coherent network. For Autun, 34 places, and not 34 terminals, were studied.
Where will they be located?
The different locations are currently only suggestions. Thus, if these are suitable, four spaces could see the light of day in the cemetery parking lot, rue de la Maladière, four others in the Saint-Pancrace parking lot, in ruelle Sainte-Anne. The swimming pool parking lot will also accommodate four, as will the parking lot opposite the X. Pauchard factory. You will also find two on the L. Nectoux esplanade in Couhard and two at the Vallon college. The Espace Simone Veil car park will have four, as will the Marble Esplanade. As for the last eight places, they will be distributed like this, four in Hexagon and four places for rue du canon Trinquet and place du cardinal Perraud.
Call for private investment
In this project, which affects the entire department except Chalon-sur-Saône, Sydesl wishes to initiate a call for private initiative. Through this, the energy union hopes to find private operators who will take responsibility for the deployment, but also the financing, construction, operation and marketing of these terminals.
No cost to the City
This operation can only bring money to the municipality, if the project is completed. “This will not cost the City anything, either in terms of investment or operation. This will even bring in a sum which will remain to be negotiated with the operator who will be chosen,” indicates the town hall.
The electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle fleet has certainly been growing for years. But what place does Sydesl leave in its hypotheses for hydrogen, which could ultimately reshuffle the cards for all-electric?
