LifeSong Expeditions, which offers cruises in the Far North, is building its new sailboat by the shipyard of Plestin-les-Grèves Edge to Edge.
For more than ten years, Emmanuelle and Christophe, now with their two young children, have lived on their boat and traveled the waters from Antarctica to the Arctic.
Cruises to Norway and Greenland with the family
“Navigating between ice and icebergs is our daily life.” This couple shares it during cruises in Norwayau Spitsbergen and at Greenland. On the menu, ski and sailing cruises, or hiking and kayaking, with the family plus a captain and a crew member.
In order to go to ever more remote places, Emmanuelle and Christophe began building a larger and stronger sailboat “to achieve his dream of adventure”.
The choice of Brittany
Among the multiple construction site possibilities around the world, the LifeSong team chose Brittany, more precisely Edge to Edge in Plestin-les-Grèves for the construction of this next boat.
The Franco-Canadian family is settling in Brittany during construction which is due to be completed at the end of February this year.
-24 meters in aluminum
This 24 meter aluminum sailboat is a single model created especially for the polar regions, designed by the architectural firm of Vincent Lebailly (Calvados) from a blank page.
“Everything has been designed to optimize its performance in extreme conditions, including wintering in Greenland. »
Some innovations have been made: ice belt, pivoting keel, Sealium aluminum, cutting-edge insulation, etc.
The sailboat will have a large saloon with a 360° view, a sauna and four cabins “each with a double bed, a single bed and a full bathroom”.
A specialist in aluminum boats, Bord à Bord produces in Brittany several ranges of motor or electric propulsion boats, and sailboats dedicated to long-distance voyages.
