Guerre is a theatrical adaptation, presented in the form of a monologue, taken from the novel by Louis-Ferdinand Céline. Mixing autobiographical elements and fiction, the author of the famous Journey to the end of the night It depicts the absurdity and horrors of war. On stage, it's Benjamin Voisin, awarded the César for Best Male Newcomer in 2022 for his role in Lost illusions of Xavier Giannoli, who brings to life the words of Celine.

Through the story of the young man's convalescence Ferdinand Destouchesthe author traces the profound and irreversible impact of his experience as a soldier, marked by trauma and a transformed existence. Driven by a rage for living in a world in complete chaos, this text, at once intense, brutal and disturbing, is also adorned with moments of emotion, burlesque and poetry. In Guerre, Céline displays all her literary talent through slang, provocative and exhilarating writing. It explores universal themes such as death, desire, betrayal, human madness and the monstrous failings of our societies, which Benjamin I could promises to make viewers feel in its adaptation.

Our review:

Benjamin I could is simply breathtaking! For 1h20, the actor keeps his audience in suspense by declaiming the text to perfection raw and vivid by Celine. Alone on stage, he plays several characters brilliantly, triggering stifled laughter, sometimes even outraged by the text.

The actor takes you into the First World War and its horrors in a sober but effective production. Gloomy and a little dark, it plays on colors and supports the harsh text of Louis-Ferdinand Céline. The text could also shock young children with its sexual connotations and the harshness of its remarks.

Time passes quickly in front of this gaming feat that reveals to us Benjamin I could in the splendid Theater of the Work. If you haven't seen it yet, we can only advise you to go there as soon as possible.
