Moncton and Saint-Jean in the race to host the 2029 Canada Games

Moncton and Saint John, New Brunswick will submit a joint bid to host the Canada Games in 2029.

New Brunswick athletes will not need to travel far for the 2029 Canada Games, as the events will necessarily take place in their province.

By the end of January, the cities of Moncton and Saint-Jean will submit a joint bid to host this sporting event. This should be accepted since no other city in the province has raised its hand to present the games.

The province’s two largest cities say it makes sense to join forces to submit a joint bid.

The co-chair of the bid committee, Louis Léger, said that Moncton will host the opening ceremony while Saint-Jean will host the closing ceremony.

Between the two cities, there is everything you need to host eventshe said, including the 50-meter pool in Saint-Jean which will be refurbished in preparation for the games.

He adds that has mountain bike facilities incredible and it would therefore be logical to hold these events there.

The committee’s decision regarding the exact locations of the competitions should be known by April.

We hope to receive an official answer, yes or no, in April, which will start the process declared Mr. Léger.

As we have all the facilities, we will be able to focus on the development of our athletes and the development of the sports system in New Brunswickindicated Louis Léger.

Muscular figures

Around 4,600 athletes specializing in around twenty different sports, their coaches and more than 5,000 volunteers are expected to be present at the Canada Games.

The total cost of hosting the Games is around $40 million, according to the co-president.

He estimates that the economic benefits will be around $200 million, as was the case during the previous Games.
