A creature fantastic, half-eagle, half-feline, ridden by a knight and a pirate hovering above the Castle-museum from Dieppe (Seine-Maritime). Saturday January 18, 2025, the members ofBefore Death unveiled the poster for the 4^e edition of their Sea and fantastic worlds festival.

On the occasion of the general meeting of their association, they lifted the veil on this event which every two years brings together young and old in and around the castle for a timeless weekend.

“This year, the festival will take place on July 12 and 13,” explain Cécile Minart, the president, Maximilien Minart the treasurer and Faustine Leroux the secretary.

The cornerstones of this now unmissable meeting for enthusiasts of Vikings, pirates and creatures of all kinds have been working hard for several months to ensure that the festival gains momentum. “This year, it’s going to be crazy,” announces the president with a big smile.

Thirteen troupes expected at the fantastic festival

“We focus the festival onimmersionthe wanderinginteractivity with the public, explains the treasurer. We want it to be like an amusement park for families, with a new event every half hour. » This is why, it is not less than 13 troupes Vikings, Orcs… who will be present throughout the weekend to liven up the festival.

“We are going to move to two concerts on Saturday evening instead of one, to two fire shows instead of one, and also to develop our workshops. For example, there will be new calligraphy, woodworking… There will also be storytellers, musicians and even demonstrations of medieval fencing,” explain the organizers.

Cosplay on the market

Not to mention the presence ofillustratorsauthors andartisans in a large market. Market which is so successful that all the places are taken. “There will be few resellers, they will mainly be Norman craftsmen, including several people around the cosplay », note the organizers. The presence of FielineFrench cosplay champion is announced.

But for the meeting to live up to all expectations, the association is looking for volunteersto prepare it in advance and to ensure the party on site. “Young people can also join us and by helping us for 40 hours at the festival, benefit from the Tope là! system, from the Department which grants them €400 in aid,” explains the treasurer.

Looking for volunteers and sponsors

In the coming weeks, in the association’s premises made available by the City at the level of the Lemeunier residence in Janval, workshops will follow one another to create all the decorations for the festival but also leather objects or the preparation of the activities which will be offered on the big day. Without forgetting training sessions troll ball and of old games. All in a good atmosphere.

Finally, who says festival says budget. To achieve this, volunteers have increased sales of craft items and services in towns, festivals, leisure centers, etc. And the association can count on subsidies from the City, the Department and the Region. “But we are always looking for sponsors private. » The call is launched.
