The Sarthe department is placed on ORANGE “snow and ice” alert by Météo-France this Thursday, November 21, from 5:00 a.m.
The movement of the CAETANO depression towards the east is currently affecting the department. Accumulations of 1 to 5 centimeters are expected in the coming hours across the entire department, or even 10 centimeters locally in the north of Sarthe. The phenomenon is expected to continue until tomorrow, Friday, November 22.
Faced with this snowy episode, the prefect of Sarthe calls on every citizen to exercise the greatest vigilance and caution, in particular road users, and to follow the following behaviors:
• Limit your travel, be vigilant and adapt your driving;
• In the event of an emergency, call for help by dialing 18 or 112.

Conditions de circulation :
• By prefectural decree and from Thursday November 21 at midnight, the circulation of collective transport of children is prohibited, on all roads in the Sarthe department ensuring:
– regular services primarily for schools;
-– transportation of disabled students;
– extracurricular activities;
– occasional school outings.
• By prefectural decree, taken by the prefect of the Western defense and security zone, vehicles and sets of vehicles whose GVW exceeds 7.5 tonnes:
– are not authorized to carry out overtaking maneuvers,
– their maximum authorized speed is lowered by 20 km/h,
on all axes of the national road network (national roads and motorways) in the Sarthe department from Thursday November 21 at 6:00 a.m.
