According to information from The New Republicit appears to be a suicide attempt by a patient in the psychiatry department. LThe management of the establishment did not confirm this hypothesis, only indicating that a police investigation “will have to determine the circumstances of this fire”.
The victim refused to leave his room
The fire broke out around 8:30 a.m. in an open unit where there were 13 patients and three caregivers. They were evacuated by the hospital's security and fire department, although one woman refused to leave her room.
Firefighters intervened to put out the flames and evacuate them. Taken by Samu to the emergency room of the hospital center, she died despite attempts at resuscitation. The fire was extinguished shortly before 10 a.m.
