A 22-year-old young man was fatally injured by a screwdriver blow to the chest, Square de Slovakie, in the Blosne district, in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), Thursday January 2. Emergency services were called around 8:40 p.m., but despite their rapid intervention, the victim died on the spot. The young man was unfavorably known to the police and justice services.
A murder investigation was immediately opened and entrusted to police officers from the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS). Thanks to testimonies and technical means, investigators identified a suspect. The latter, a man in his twenties, also well known to the justice system, was located in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône).
The suspect referred for indictment
The Marseille police arrested him on Saturday, when he was the subject of a search warrant from the Rennes public prosecutor's office, indicated the public prosecutor, Frédéric Teillet, confirming information from
West France. The suspect was repatriated to Rennes and placed in police custody. He will be referred this Monday for indictment, said the magistrate.
The location of the attack, located in the Blosne district, is known to be a place of drug trafficking. However, the suspect's motivations and the circumstances of the murder remain to be determined.
