Cycling fans must have marked the dates in their calendars. 2025 will be a year of cycling in the Pays de Vitré (Ille-et-Vilaine).
Here is a tour of the main races of the coming months.
La Route Adélie on April 4
A popular and sporting event par excellence, the 29th edition of La Route Adélie will take place on Friday April 4.
For the 7th round of the Coupe de France, the route remains the same and the riders will set off at 11:30 a.m. for the fictitious start and at 11:30 a.m. for the real start at La Grenouillère.
19 teams have been announced, but it is still too early to know the names of the riders. Last year, David Gaudu was announced at the last moment.
This year, the guests of honor will be Julien Simon and Audrey Cordon-Ragot, the two former Breton professional runners.
The Gais Lrons cycling Grand Prix on April 6
Two days later, time for the Grand Prix Cycliste des Gay Lrons in Vitré. The meeting is organized by the Vitrean Cyclo-club (CCV). The start will be given at 2:30 p.m. from Place Saint-Yves for the Open 1-2-3 and Access 1-2 licenses.
The event will count towards the 2025 Brittany Club Cup (Challenge Overstim's).
The Tour of Brittany on April 30
Wednesday April 30, the cycling event will pass through the Pays de Vitré. Stage 6 will leave Missillac (Loire-Atlantique) to arrive in Le Pertre for a 180 km race.
“This penultimate day will not present any insurmountable difficulty. The final circuit of Perte, well known to Breton runners, could surprise foreign runners. The long final straight of 3 kilometers is tiring. The pace should be very fast throughout the day and nothing guarantees a massive sprint,” communicates the Tour de Bretagne organization.
Before arriving at Le Pertre, the runners will pass through Arbrissel, Rannée, La Selle-Guerchaise and Gennes-sur-Seiche. Just like during the Circuit des 2 Provinces, the Clermont coast will be used. This will be the main difficulty of today's stage.
The Velox Prize on June 15
See you on Sunday June 15 in Saint-Germain-du-Pinel for the third edition. The organization is the initiative of the German Cycling Organizing Committee and the Vitrean Cyclo Club. The meeting is aimed at cycling schools, U14 and U17. In 2024, around a hundred runners were present.
The Tour de France on July 12
The 8th stage of the Grande loop will pass through the Pays de Vitré, Saturday July 12.
During the 8th stage between Saint-Méen-le-Grand and Laval, the riders will pass through Gevezé, La Mézière, Melesse, Chevaigné, before heading towards Saint-Sulpice-la-Forêt, Chasné-sur-Illet, Liffré, La Bouëxière, then Champeaux, Vitré, Argentré-du-Plessis, Gennes-sur-Seiche and finally Mayenne with the arrival at Laval.
The Circuit of the 2 Provinces on August 18
An immutable event of the summer, the race will take place on Monday August 18 at Le Pertre. The CCV and the town’s festival committee jointly organize the meeting. It is open to Elite and Open.
