The new Minister of Education reacted on Sunday January 5 on BFMTV to criticism during her visit to Mayotte at the very end of December, after the broadcast of a video where she is seen turning her back on two teachers who raise questions about the difficulties of accessing state aid. “I have one regret: I did not explain to them that I had to leave because I had colleagues of theirs (…) who were waiting for me, she said. It’s a mistake not to say goodbye to them.”

During this trip, she confirmed the date of January 13 for the start of the school year in Mayotte. This return to class will however be done according to “the situation of each establishment”she said on BFMTV. “I said it very clearly, both to establishment managers and to union organizations: obviously, we will adapt the start of the school year on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the situation of each establishment”she continued.

Faced with a “very tense situation” et “the need to organize rotations in schools which cannot accommodate all students, particularly in primary education”the minister said she hoped “be able to have 70% of the classes” and want “see how we can deploy additional capabilities”.
