A new death on the roads of Guyana

On Saturday evening, an accident took place on the Matourienne. Among the two people injured, one of them died at hospital where she was transported in serious condition.

This is the second death on the roads of Guyana since the start of the year. “Already” one might add. On Saturday, emergency services were called for an intervention on the Matourienne, shortly before 10 p.m. On the national road, a vehicle and a scooter collided.

The driver of the car, a 28-year-old man, was slightly injured. The driver of the scooter was taken care of by emergency services in a much more worrying condition. The 30-year-old man, taken care of by the Smur (Smobile emergency and resuscitation structure) was taken to the Cayenne Hospital Center. He succumbed to his injuries there.

His death brings to two the number of deaths on our roads since the start of the year. The day before, January 3, a 36-year-old cyclist lost his life, hit by a car on the Rémire road.

For the moment, the circumstances of the accident on the Matourienne are still to be determined. At the time of writing, the identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
Blood tests were carried out on the driver of the car involved in the accident. The results should be known in the coming week.
