France and its regions have such a diversity of landscapes that certain corners sometimes seem to transport us to other countries because they are so similar. This is the case of a charming port city located in Brittany, highlighted by the site Drome mountainwhich strangely evokes Portugal, with its colorful facades and Mediterranean atmosphere. This is the town of Douarnenez, east of the Iroise Sea in Finistère. Some indeed find similarities with Portuguese coastal cities such as Porto or Lisbon, thanks in particular to its houses with colorful facades which line the port.
Douarnenez, a mini Lisbon in Brittany?
As in Lisbon, the buildings are actually adorned with bright and shimmering colors, from blue to yellow to pink, which bring a touch of cheerfulness and which contribute to the charm of the place. The architecture of the city is also reminiscent of that of the small towns along the Portuguese coast. Strolling along the quays, you could easily believe yourself on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Unlike many tourist destinations which have sometimes been distorted by mass tourism, Douarnenez has managed to retain its soul as a fishing port.
