The arena of Tangera unique witness to the city’s history, is preparing to regain its splendor after decades of abandonment. This rehabilitation project, supervised by the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN), in partnership with the Wilaya of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceimathe Regional Council and the municipality of Tangier, is coming to an end. With a budget of 50 million dirhams, it aims to bring this monument back to life while adapting it to contemporary needs.

A cultural center with multiple uses

The project was designed to preserve thearchitectural authenticity of thearena while integrating modern infrastructure. The renovated arena will host a theater open air with a capacity of 7,000 people, an exhibition hall, commercial spaces, restaurants, cultural shops and leisure areas. These developments make this place a hub intended to host large-scale artistic, cultural and economic events.

The Tangier Arena aspires to become a cultural and tourist symbol, consolidating Tangier’s place as a flagship destination at the national and international level. This project is not limited to the restoration of a historical heritageit also intends to boost the local economy by creating new opportunities for the cultural, artistic and commercial sectors.

A legacy from the 1950s

It once hosted bullfights, a Spanish tradition, before these activities ceased after the country’s independence in 1956. Since then, the site has been abandoned, until this ambitious rehabilitation project gave a new lease of life. life to this building steeped in history. With this renovation, Tangier once again demonstrates its commitment to promoting its heritage while looking to the future.
