In 2025, here are the five major projects that will transform

Next August, the Vilaine car park will permanently close its access. Demolition of the slab will begin in September. Objective: discover the Vilaine. The project should be completed in 2028 at an estimated cost of 30 million euros.

During the last municipal council, Charles Compagnon, leader of the right-of-center opposition, recalled that “many residents and traders feel abandoned in the face of decisions that directly impact their quality of life and their economic activities. Three more years of nuisance, noise, dust, and urban chaos for more than uncertain results! » He recalled that 500 traders had signed a petition asking not to carry out this work. Still during the municipal council, Mayor Nathalie Appéré and Marc Hervé, her first deputy, responded that three years ago, a citizens' jury of 30 people selected for their representativeness had largely expressed themselves in favor of the discovery of the Naughty.

At the beginning of 2025, the new interventional surgical center of the CHU will come into service. This building of more than 50,000 m², construction of which began in 2020, will have 36 operating rooms, 14 interventional rooms and 5 endoscopy rooms. It will also house an ambulatory surgery center with 60 places, 240 surgical hospitalization beds, 108 critical care beds as well as a complete and efficient imaging service. Finally, the Samu helicopter will be able to land directly on its roof, which will facilitate the transfer of patients to the operating theaters. Also in 2025, construction of the mother-child center and the new maternity center will begin. It will allow the South Hospital to join the Pontchaillou site in 2028 and will avoid the numerous trips of nursing staff. In total, the Rennes University Hospital reconstruction project amounts to €875 million. The financing is increased to 19% by the State for an amount of €167 million (including an additional €80 million as part of the investment component of Ségur de la santé in 2021) and to 81% by the CHU (loan and self-financing) .

    In the station area, not far from the women's prison, the first phase of construction of the new headquarters of the Samsic group which will house more than 550 employees will begin at the beginning of 2025. The overall project includes four buildings divided into two blocks. The Blériot block with the new headquarters of the Samsic group on the north plot, a building of 32 housing units supported by the Solidarity Land Organization (OFS) on the south plot. The Féval block, with a housing tower and a building including offices, restaurant, hotels. The housing tower will rise to 50 m in height, less than the 80 m planned in the initial project. The whole will be finished at the end of 2028.

    This year 2025 will see the launch of work to set up traffic corridors for future tram bus lines. Lines T1 and T2 will be the first two of the four to enter service between 2027 and 2029. Line T1 will leave Saint-Grégoire to reach the Longs Champs shopping center. It will notably pass through Villejean, avenue Gaston Berger, along the Rennes 2 campus. Line T2 will connect Cesson-Sévigné to the road, via the quays and the Mitterrand mall. This is the one that will require the least adjustments. Please note, however, that at the foot of Roazhon Park, a major entry point to the city, traffic will be reduced from four to two lanes. A cycle path separated from traffic will also be created.

    If the announced schedule is respected, T2 is the first to enter service, from 2027. Then will come T1, at the end of 2029, then T3 and T4, after 2030. Ultimately, the Trambus network will serve eight municipalities in the heart of of the Rennes metropolis.

In 2025, Rennes Métropole will take over the MuskiHall de Bruz which belongs to the Pigeault group. Known to be “hall 9 of the exhibition center”, the MusikHall with 8,240 m² of surface area is the largest concert hall in the metropolis. The year 2025 will be devoted to the examination of the project and the call for tenders from companies. Work will begin in the first quarter of 2026 and be completed in 2028. At this stage, the opening of the performance hall is planned for the 1st quarter of 2028. The new Musikhall promises improved equipment, with adjacent services which will also gain in comfort : lobby, bar, ticket office, catering, dressing rooms. The acoustics of the room will also be strengthened. The future performance hall will be able to accommodate up to 9,000 people in its “standing” configuration, 7,500 spectators in its “seated/standing” configuration and 4,000 spectators in “all seated” configuration with a retractable tier of 2,000 seats.
