Be careful if you take the road. Météo- classified the Seine-Maritime department as yellow snow-ice alert in the morning of this Saturday January 4, 2025.

The situation is expected to deteriorate further during the day, with vigilance switching to orange from 4 p.m. and last at least midnight. A return to normal is expected this Sunday.

This winter episode is associated with fears of snowfall but also, and above all, with freezing rain.

Freezing rain for a few hours

According to the meteorological organization: “A disturbance associated with a lot of mild air will sweep across the entire country in a southwest/northeast direction this Saturday and during the night from Saturday to Sunday. »

This disturbance will encounter a cold air mass, which will cause snowfall and, in particular, freezing rain for a few hours, “while the mild air takes over definitively. »

Concerns relate in particular to road traffic, with freezing rains being able to last “between 1 and 3 hours” and cause traffic difficulties,” notes Météo-France. The organization advises to follow the evolution of the forecasts as well as the next updates of the vigilance map.
