On Saturday January 4, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Yvelines department as well as the Ile-de-France region will experience a weather disturbance. Snowfall and/or freezing rain are expected. Ice, even in small quantities, can be particularly annoying for road traffic. Limit your travel as much as possible.

The first precipitation could fall in the form of light and wet snow, with a thin layer on the ground (up to 1 cm on the heights, especially in the west). They will then evolve into freezing rain or frozen ground, causing a temporary episode of icy weather lasting a few hours. A mild spell will then set in, with a sharp rise in temperatures during the night from Saturday to Sunday, transforming the precipitation into rain.

Expected end of the episode: late evening Saturday January 4 evening.

Possible consequences :

  • Snowfall or icing, in significant proportions for the region, is expected.
  • Traffic conditions can quickly become very difficult across the entire network, particularly in the forestry sector where falling trees can increase the difficulties.
  • The risks of accidents are increased.
  • Some damage may affect electricity distribution and telephone networks.

Behavioral advice :

  • Limit your travel as much as possible
  • Be careful and vigilant if you absolutely have to travel
  • Keep informed of developments
  • Choose public transport
  • Respect the traffic restrictions and diversions put in place.
  • Make it easier for road and highway clearing equipment to pass, in particular by parking your vehicle outside the traffic lanes.
  • Protect yourself from falls and protect others by clearing snow and salting the sidewalks in front of your home, while avoiding obstructing water drains.
  • Under no circumstances touch electrical wires that have fallen to the ground.
  • It is essential to install generators outside buildings.
  • Do not use to heat yourself: appliances not intended for this purpose: stove, brazier or continuous combustion auxiliary heaters.
