In Calvados, the heavy rain in recent days and ongoing precipitation and expected this Wednesday January 8, 2025 have high risk of flooding. The Orne river which passes through Caen was placed in raw orange vigilance.
Risk of significant overflows
This concerns the part between Pont-d’Ouilly and Ouistreham where “risks of flooding generating significant overflows” are to be feared according to the Government Vigicrues website.
The only case in France
In Calvados, Orne is the only river or river in France to reach this alert level.
Still in Calvados, Dives, Noireau and Touques are placed on yellow alert for “risks of flooding generating overflows. »
“State services, in conjunction with the municipalities concerned, the firefighters and the departmental council, are mobilized to ensure the safety of people and property,” communicates the Calvados prefecture
Do not drive or walk on a flooded road.
Closed road and aquabarriers
Since Sunday January 5, 2025, the road between Louvigny and Caen is closed. Aquabarriers were also installed in Louvigny to prevent the Orne from overflowing and flooding.
