Press release of January 4, 2025
Météo France has placed the Haut-Rhin department in vigilance Orange from this Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 9:00 p.m. until Sunday, January 5 at 5:00 a.m. for an episode of snow and black ice requiring particular vigilance.
Indeed, a disturbance is expected at the end of the day in Haut-Rhin.
The first precipitation will be in the form of snow and will begin around 7 p.m. in the south of the department (Sundgau). It is expected between 1 and 3cm.
This snow will be followed by freezing precipitation between 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. The disturbance should evacuate through the north of the territory on Sunday morning.
Possible consequences of the snow-icy episode:
• traffic conditions can quickly become very difficult across the entire network;
• the risks of accidents are increased;
• some damage may affect electricity distribution networks.
Thierry Queffélec, prefect of Haut-Rhin, calls on users to exercise the greatest caution on the roads and to follow the behavior tips following:
• Limit your travel as much as possible. Choose public transport;
• If you have to take your vehicle, prepare your trip and your route;
• Respect the traffic restrictions and diversions put in place;
• Facilitate the passage of road and motorway clearing equipment, in particular by parking your vehicle outside the traffic lanes.
