The year 2024, a year full of emotions marked by sport. From January to December, the department vibrated with competitions, events organized by CD08 and the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Departmental Council offers sports activities throughout the Ardennes territory, in conjunction with sports associations, departmental committees, institutional partners and local authorities.

Objective: to allow as many people as possible to have access to a sporting or leisure activity.

Welcoming international delegations

This year again, the Maison Départementale des Sports attracted delegations of high-level athletes from all over the world. For their training at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, three delegations from Algeria (two in boxing and one in judo) and a delegation of Colombian boxers chose to settle in the department for a few days to benefit from optimal training conditions. These teams were able to benefit from modern equipment and quality infrastructure, with the aim of refining their preparation.

Events organized by the Departmental Council

Marcassins Departmental Days, Ardenn'Women, Eat well, Move well, Get well informed in colleges, Ardenn'Tour, Inclusive Nature… In 2024, nearly 100 sports days have been organized by the CD08.

With these different activities spread throughout the year, the department reached more than 10,000 people. This figure, which has been increasing since 2023, shows a real desire to discover and practice new sporting disciplines.

High-level sport in the Ardennes

Many Ardennes athletes and clubs classified as “high level” shined this year in their respective disciplines. Thanks to their rigorous training, they were able to rise to the highest level of competitions, departmental, regional, European, world and even the Olympic Games. During a ceremony in their image, the CD08 wanted to highlight them, thank them and reward them.

Sporting events sponsored by CD08

Partner of major sporting events, the Ardennes department contributes to the promotion of sporting development within the department. This year again, many events sponsored by the Department saw their number of registrations break records. The enthusiasm felt whatever the sporting discipline is such that we hope to see it again in 2025!

2025 as a continuation of 2024

Many sporting events will be continued in 2025. We are counting on your presence at the department's various activities!

Sporting events in January 2025:

  • Thursday January 9: Eat well, Move well Be well informed at Scamaroni College
  • Saturday January 25: Departmental Gymnastics Marcassins Day in Givet (open only to licensees)
