Two inflatable boats from the firefighters and the gendarmerie were engaged around 4:30 p.m., this Thursday, January 2, 2025, in the port of Merrien, in Moëlan-sur-Mer (Finistère), to fish out the lifeless body of a man about fifty years old.

There were many walkers along the coastal path from the port of Merrien, Thursday January 2, 2025, in Moëlan-sur-Mer (Finistère). People saw a body on the surface of the water in the swell, near the rocks, and raised the alarm shortly before 4:30 p.m.

An important system mobilized

A major device was then mobilized, involving the firefighters of Quimperlé, Moëlan and Aven, as well as the community gendarmes and the Bénodet nautical brigade. Two inflatable boats were launched to fish out the lifeless, naked body of a man in his fifties. His identity could not be established on site.

“We have not had any disappearances reported in the town. No one came forward either. An autopsy was requested by the prosecutor,” confides Marie-Louise Grisel, the mayor of Moëlan-sur-Mer, present on site. The gendarmerie opened an investigation.
