Algerian influencer “Zazou Youcef” who called for attacks in France arrested

He was known under the nickname “Zazouyoucef” on TikTok, followed by more than 400,000 subscribers. For several days, the Algerian influencer was actively sought after having called in several videos to carry out attacks on French soil. His hunt ended this Friday morning with his arrest in where he lived, Bruno Retailleau announced on X.

“The Algerian influencer “Zazouyoucef” who called for attacks in will have to answer for his actions before the courts, wrote the Minister of the Interior. He was arrested this morning in Brest. Thank you to the magistrates and the police who made this arrest possible.”

“We’re going to shoot you”

In a video that went viral in recent days, the influencer threatened anyone who demonstrated against the Algerian regime during the New Year. “We are at war. At the slightest misstep we will screw your mothers,” he declared before miming a throat-slitting gesture.

In another video published a few days earlier, “Zazou Youcef” had already made the same threats on camera. “We're going to make you like in the 90s. We're going to shoot you […] Do you want to go out on January 1st? Shoot them, we have to make the powder speak. President Tebboune, shoot them, they want chaos,” he declared in Arabic, miming shooting with his hands.

Contacted by 20 Minutes, the Brest prosecutor's office did not immediately react to this arrest. According to Le Figarothe Algerian influencer was subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF) which had been issued by the Finistère prefecture in the spring. He was also already known to the police for various offenses such as caravan thefts or damage to property.
