A gesture that is likely to make people talk. Tonight, like every year in May, the Eurovision Song Contest took place. A way for Europe to unite through song. And for 2023, it was the United Kingdom which took over the organization of the event, Ukraine, winner of the 2022 edition, not being able to take charge of it due to the Russian invasion on the country. A special edition in more ways than one, since it marked the comeback of Loreen, the Swedish candidate, who was ultra-favorite for her second participation, when she had already won the trophy in 2012.
La Zarra gives the finger of honor in the middle of Eurovision
Facing her, many candidates, each more colorful than the other, and formidable opponents as well. For France, there was La Zarra, a Canadian singer, who therefore represented France with her title Evidemment. The predictions announced her in the Top 5, but in the end, the jury and the public spoke: the young woman finally had to settle for only 104 points and an unfortunate 16th place. A news that she did not appreciate at all, since filmed at the announcement of the points given by the European public – the French cannot vote for their own country, she showed her disapproval by giving the finger of honor, facing the camera. The production of the show, signed BBC, tried to cut the signal, but too late: the damage was done. During the rest of the ceremony, Stéphane Bern and Laurence Boccolini explained that La Zarra even left the Green Room, this proscenium where all the delegations are present – before the announcement of the final results. Without, however, returning to the incident.

La Zarra’s attitude on this Eurovision final evening is not surprising given the many whims relayed by the press in recent weeks. If we understand that she is disappointed after the excellent performance she gave at the start of the evening, her bloodshed could well lead to sanctions from the organizers.
