The play “Hom” (Them) by the Anfass troupe represents Morocco during the 15th edition of the Arab Theater Festival, which is held from January 9 to 15 in Muscat.

Initiated by the Arab Theater Authority, in cooperation with the Omani Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Omani Theater Association, this edition sees the participation of 15 theatrical shows selected by a scientific committee from 175 proposals .

The Moroccan theatrical play competes in the first category for the Sheikh Prize Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, member of the High Council of the United Arab Emirates, governor of Sharjah and president of the Arab Theater Authority.

Among the works in competition are “Legend of the Incense Tree” (Mazoun Troupe of Oman), “Al-Bukhara” (Tunisia), “The Refuge” (Jordan), “The Institution” (Bahrain), “ Between two hearts” (Qatar), “Plume” (Palestine), “Cirque” (Iraq), “Ghassat Oubour” (Kuwait), “How do we forgive ourselves? » (United Arab Emirates), and “Macbeth” (Egypt).

During this edition, a tribute will be paid to the winners of the Arab competition for theatrical scientific research, organized under the theme “Heritage and theater, and beyond Arab theatrical heritage, a critical vision for a new Arab formulation”, notably Zahra Ibrahim from Morocco who won first place, Hussein Al Rahawi, also from Morocco and Hossam Mohyi Eddin from Lebanon.

The Arab Theater Festival has become a major event and a gathering point for Arab theater artists from around the world to reflect on the evolution and future of this artistic expression.

In addition to the shows and competitions, the festival includes a congress with the participation of numerous Arab writers and theater artists, a symposium on theatrical publications in the Sultanate of Oman, a symposium on theater and artificial intelligence, as well as three sessions dedicated to signing publications.
