The Cercle taurine soustonnais (CTS) held its general meeting in its stronghold on Saturday December 7. Co-president Benoît Pfister took stock of a beautiful year driven by tradition. Always appreciated, visits to the farms of Iberian neighbors allowed 35 members to escape for Ascension, in Seville. They were able to discover the ganaderias of Dona Dolorès Aguirre Ibarra, Santiago Domecq and Rehuelga, the town of Ronda and the feria of Jerez de la Frontera.

The week around the bullfight in June was full. It was also possible to admire the photos of Max Loubère and the paintings of Nicolas Darriet, known as “Kouki”. The meetings were rich with the specialist André Viard for his book “Understanding bullfighting”, Mathieu Grégoire, passionate runner of encierros, the Vuelta for the presentation of the summer cartels, and the meeting with Olivier Bernard, practico and member active in the Parisian Peña Culturafición.

18,000 people

Hosted by the dancers of El Golpe Tacon, the Afición meal closed this XVIe edition. Alas, the inclement weather did not allow the young people of Marensiña to reveal their talent. The bodega has had a makeover thanks to Julien for the entrance and “Kouki” for the creation of a fresco.

The CTS continued “its educational work” with several primary school classes with the discovery of the arenas and the Landes race. A check will be given to the school cooperative. As for shows, during the festivals, we will remember the final of the Wimpy trophy which saw the triumph of Imed, a student of Marensiña, in front of cattle from the ganaderia le Vert galant.

The members of the CTS work together with the entire CTEM (Bullfighting Commission) and the DSP service provider in order to put on quality shows. Paths are being drawn up for the 2025 vintage and should be finalized soon. Via the Landes Émotions shows organized with the associative collective, and those of the DSP, around 18,000 people were able to enter the local arenas, “which serves as a reminder that the arenas and our traditions are truly part of our culture”.

The projects

The CTS will participate in hosting the evenings of the Arte flamenco festival and reiterates its usual program: interventions in primary schools, Landes Émotions, parties, preparation for the 2026 trip.
