The resource ceilings that the Family Allowance Funds (CAF) take into account for the allocation of family allowances and other assistance in 2025 are subject to a revaluation on January 1st. A decree that the government published in the Official Journal of December 20, 2024 then specifies the different ceilings for family benefits. Here is the main information you need to know about these reassessments.
CAF modifies certain ceilings
France has 12.5 million people who receive at least one CAF allowance. Every year, beneficiaries receive more than 70 billion euros in aid from the CAF. These services concern several sectors: family, housing, solidarity, etc.
Each CAF financial aid has specific criteria that must be met to benefit from it, including resource ceilings. CAF grants some automatically if you are eligiblelike the Back to School Allowance for example. However, for others, you have to request it.

The official journal published a decree on December 20, 2024, which the Public Service website relayed. This decree modifies the ceilings for three allocations. It is about the birth or adoption bonus, the Young Child Welcoming Benefit (Paje) and the Back-to-School Allowance (ARS).
– The birth or adoption bonus. CAF pays this aid to families upon the arrival of a child or their adoption. It then amounts to 1,066.30 euros for one birth and 2; 132.58 euros for an adoption.
– The Young Child Welcoming Service (Paje). This monthly aid from CAF ranges between 96 euros and 193 euros. It supports parents during their child's first three years by contributing to maintenance and education expenses.
– The Back to School Allowance (ARS). This assistance is aimed at low-income families. It helps cover part of the costs relating to school supplies and the start of the school year, in general. It concerns children from CP to the end of high school. In 2023, more than three million households will have benefited from this assistance. Its amount is between 416 and 454 euros depending on the age of the child.

What are the new ceilings for 2025?
In 2025, according to CAF, the resource ceilings will be at 29. 169 euros for the birth or adoption bonus as well as for the Young Child Welcoming Benefitcompared to 27,833 euros in 2024. The increase for large families is 11,725 euros, compared to 11,188 euros in 2024.
Regarding the Back to School Allowance, the ceiling will be 21,880 euros compared to 20,878 euros in 2024. It may also be subject to an increase of 6,564 euros per dependent child from the first, compared to 6,263 euros in 2024.
Through this increase in ceilings, the government intends to support the purchasing power of families. Indeed, it should surely allow more French households to receive this aid from the CAF in 2025.
