XV of France / Top 14 – Rupture of a cruciate ligament confirmed for Charles Ollivon (RC Toulon)

Information Midi Olympique – Injured in the right knee last Saturday against Racing 92, Charles Ollivon underwent an MRI this Tuesday morning to find out the exact nature of the injury. The imaging confirmed the fears: rupture of a cruciate ligament and end of season for the captain of the RCT.

This Tuesday morning, RC captain Charles Ollivon had an MRI of his right knee, following his worrying injury contracted last Saturday against Racing 92 and who had seen the international third row (31 years old, 46 caps) collapse on a support. The imagery therefore confirmed the fears: Ollivon is the victim of a ruptured cruciate ligament, which already puts an end to his Top 14 season, but also to that with the XV of , so that the 2025 6 Nations Tournament is looming.

The blow is all the harder for the Basque because after a lackluster 2023-2024 season, and which notably put him back in the rotation of the XV of France, he was the author of a first part of the 2024-2025 season thunderous. This fall, with the Blues, he started the non-group tour (against Japan), before returning to the substitutes' bench against New Zealand and finishing as a starter against Argentina.

Fears from Saturday

It is therefore back to its very best level than Charles Ollivon ends his season, with an absence estimated at at least 6 months. This is what the images suggested on Saturday when he collapsed alone, on a support, after only 6 minutes of play, at the heart of a sparkling action from Toulonnais with a double high-class intervention from Baptiste Serin and the final essay by Setariki Tuicuvu.

This injury to Ollivon had therefore tarnished the beautiful afternoon, without even waiting for the definitive diagnosis. “It’s annoying. It’s leading to a big injury. We’re going to miss Charles. We’re sad to lose one of our own and obviously it affects us.” lamented third row Esteban Abadie after the match, in the columns of Var Matin. Hooker Teddy Baubigny continued. “Tonight, we really have to support Charles. All our thoughts are with him.”
