The first day of 2025in Mayotte, two young girls, Mélusine and Capucine, took a moment to draw a big heart. This gesture did not go unnoticed. Addressed to the Hérault firefighters, this symbol transmits a message of support and hope. The two children wanted to thank these men and women who, far from their original department, are currently on the island.
Shared on social networks under the hashtag #FirstPicture2025the design gained visibility, becoming a symbol of solidarity. The Hérault firefighters, touched by this attention, published a photo of the drawing with a message of thanks.
A response to Cyclone Chido
Cyclone Chido hit Mayotte hard, leaving behind considerable material damage. In this context, the arrival of the Hérault firefighters was seen as a breath of hope. Among them, five specialists from the Rescue and Search Unit. These experts, deployed alongside local firefighters, carry out two essential missions: searching for people potentially missing under the rubble and restoring damaged infrastructure.
