Algeria Football– Spanish media have revealed the identities of four Moroccan spies operating on behalf of French and Moroccan intelligence services, with the alleged aim of destabilizing Spanish security. Their objective: to move the final of the 2030 World Cup from Madrid to Casablanca.
The same sources claim that this large-scale operation would have included the interception of emails, telephone tapping and unauthorized access to confidential internal documents. This sensitive information would contain crucial details on the logistical proposals and budgets planned by Spain for the organization of the event. By exploiting this data, Morocco has reportedly sought to edge out Spain in key negotiations with FIFA, thereby ensuring that Casablanca hosts the final, relegating Madrid to a secondary role.
In addition, the sources specify that this strategy would have been reinforced by the collaboration of Paris. With the help of French and Moroccan businessmen, attempts were reportedly made to implicate FIFA in corruption cases. These maneuvers would include promises of huge commissions and contracts linked to the development of infrastructure and services associated with the World Cup, in exchange for the transfer of the final to Morocco.
Morocco, Spain and Portugal form an unprecedented trio for the organization of the 2030 World Cup. However, Morocco is considered the weak link in this coalition, both logistically and financially. This situation would have pushed Rabat to resort to controversial tactics to strengthen its position against its European partners.
These revelations risk further tarnishing relations between Morocco and Spain, already weakened by recent tensions. If confirmed, they could also call into question the integrity of the process of organizing the 2030 World Cup.
FIFA, which advocates transparency and fairness in its decision-making processes, once again finds itself faced with accusations of corruption. The coming weeks will be decisive in clarifying this matter and determining the impact of these accusations on the organization of the tournament.
