The administration of the Tangier 2 local prison affirmed that the health situation within the establishment remains “normal” and presents no cause for concern.
This statement comes in response to information relayed by certain electronic sites concerning an alleged spread of measles among detainees.
According to the General Delegation of Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), as soon as the first symptoms appeared in four prisoners, including two new arrivals, preventive measures were immediately put in place.
The detainees concerned were isolated and subjected to the necessary analyses. An appropriate treatment protocol was applied for confirmed cases among prisoners and prison staff, in coordination with local health authorities.
A voluntary vaccination campaign against measles was organized, benefiting prisoners and staff, under the supervision of a medical team from the Ministry of Health.
The DGAPR emphasizes that all the measures taken made it possible to control the situation and prevent any spread of the disease within the establishment.
