“Simply thank you. For what you do and will do this night. And watch your lives. » At the Samu and its regulation center, at the zonal headquarters, at the gendarmerie group as at the police headquarters, at the departmental fire and rescue operational center (CODIS) and at the prefecture, prefect Étienne Guyot wanted to show his gratitude to those who are mobilized to serve the public during New Year's Eve.
“I'm happy to see how organized, prepared and balanced it is. » Among the Girondin gendarmes, this December 31 marks the end of “Operation Santa Claus” which allowed the security of shopping centers or places of worship as well as “holiday tranquility” and the multiplication of road checks targeted at alcohol and narcotics. According to General Loïc Baras, commander of the group, 232 gendarmes were to be divided into 83 patrols and 21 checkpoints.
Restless night
Welcomed at the police headquarters by Inspector General Jean-Cyrille Reymond, zonal director of the national police and Controller General Emmanuel Morin, interdepartmental director of the national police, the prefect attended the end of the briefing of executives of the police for this often agitated New Year's Eve night in the Bordeaux area.
The DIPN was able to show the prefect, in the so-called Mosovo room (dedicated to maintaining order, law enforcement and official travel) where its 270 own personnel and the 110 CRS reinforcements had been strategically prepositioned. Scalded by the events of the previous New Year's Eve and in particular “the construction of flaming barricades to attract the police and shoot them with fireworks”, the police also planned to “effectively judicialize the arrests”, according to the terms of the DIPN.
On the firefighters side, we must be able to manage what concerns urban violence, but also injuries or illnesses at home or animals wandering on the road! General controller Marc Vermeulen, head of SDIS 33, was able to line up 513 firefighters for December 31 and unveiled two tools deployed this year for reporting information: very precise mapping software and pedestrian cameras which broadcast live the situation facing firefighters.
