A robbery in Clermont-l’Hérault

Festive day in Saint-Fulcran

The party was beautiful but terribly windy this Saturday, April 20 : the inauguration of the bell tower of Saint-Fulcran Cathedral was the occasion of an inauguration with great pomp. A Salagou-Cirque de Mourèze label

The good news came in May: the higher commission for perspective and landscape sites gave its approval to obtaining the Grand Site de label for the Salagou-Cirque de Mourèze site. The result of long-term collaborative work. In France, there are 22 labeled Grand Sites, in Hérault the Cirque de Navacelles and the Gorges de l'Hérault already benefit from the label.

Legislative upheaval

Like everywhere in the country, the inhabitants of the Cœur d’Hérault were surprised to return to the polls June 30 and July 7 after the dissolution of the National Assembly. In the fourth constituency of Hérault, the outgoing LFI deputy Sébastien Rome bowed to the National Rally candidate, Manon Bouquin. He who was elected in 2022 with 674 votes in advance, lost by 668 votes. The Gignac footbridge

It was placed in the night from March 14 to 15 and inaugurated on September 18 : the Gignac footbridge overlooking the A750 is the largest aluminum footbridge in France. Intended for pedestrians to pass through, it primarily allows the 900 high school students from the Simone-Veil high school, as well as users of the sports hall, to reach the heart of the city in complete safety.

In the lake, cyanobacteria

Fifteen days in the middle of August with swimming not recommended in Lake Salagou! 80 years ago, Bir Hakeim

The commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation took, in the Heart of Hérault, a special turn with the memory of the Bir Hakeim maquis. On September 14, a tribute was paid to the resistance fighters who died for France, at the Mourèze memorial, then in Canet where an exhibition was offered by the Amicale des amis de Bir Hakeim. A few days before the commemoration, the last of the Hérault resistance fighters of Bir Hakeim, Camille Verdeil, died at the age of 99.

A stele on the Larzac

On October 31, the mayor of Rives, Christian Bellas, received the representative of the American embassy to inaugurate a stele in tribute to the two US Army pilots who lost their lives here on November 1, 1944. Together not from the place where the ephemeral lake is formed, a stele has been installed in memory of the two victims of this air crash.

A Geopark targeting Unesco

The departmental council has submitted its application to UNESCO for its Terres d’Hérault Geopark. The grouping of geological sites in the sector, and the places which allow them to be understood, is a tourist asset according to the Department. UNESCO evaluators are expected next spring, the verdict will be delivered in 2026.
