These slag heaps, true giants of shale, are much more than vestiges of the mining past. They symbolize the richness of our local history and the successful reconversion of the former mining basin into a place of discovery, stroll and preservation of biodiversity.
389 steps await you to climb the highest of the two slag heaps and enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Haillicourt settlements and the landscapes of the mining basin. These slag heaps, comparable to the famous pyramids of Egypt in their shape and impressive proportions, harmoniously combine historical heritage and nature.
Together, let's continue to bring to life and protect these treasures that bring us together.
