Mortar fire, trash cans, buildings and cars burned… The night of the New Year's Eve is still a rough night, and the towns of Gironde are preparing to minimize any risk of overflow.
In recent years, certain towns on the right bank have taken measures to ensure the safety of citizens. And the now traditional decree is renewed this year in Lormont, Cenon, Floirac and Bassens: a curfew is established for minors.
Those under 18 must be accompanied
In Lormont, people under the age of 18 will be prohibited from circulating in the street after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31 and until 7 a.m. on Wednesday January 1, 2025 if they are not accompanied by one of their parents or a representative of parental or legal authority.
“Minors in violation may be fined and taken to the commissariat of police the nearest,” specifies the town of Lormont in a publication on Facebook.
The curfew follows the same hours in Bassens and Floirac. In Cenon, this measure applies from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Other planned security measures
But young people are not the only ones affected by these decrees. Wild dumps and gatherings on public roads are prohibited.
“It is requested to ensure that take in your trash and limit as much as possible the presence of vehicles in public spaces,” added the mayor of Bassens Alexandre Rubio on Facebook.
In addition, the teams of the different municipal police will be mobilized all night on New Year's Eve.
Located in Lormont, the Buttinière park and ride will be open and monitored all night. From 4 p.m. on December 31, it will be possible to leave your car for free. This year, there is no time limit for picking it up on January 1st.
As a reminder, the entire Gironde is already subject to specific measures for the night of December 31. Last week, the Gironde prefecture unveiled its security system for New Year's Eve.
We learn in particular that the use of fireworks, the transport and possession of flammable and chemical products but also the possession, transport and possession alcohol consumption are prohibited on public roads.
