The Tariqa Tijaniya contributed to the enrichment of religious and spiritual communication relations between Morocco and African countries, in particular with the Republic of Senegal, affirmed, Saturday evening in Dakar, the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs , Ahmed Toufiq.

Speaking at the opening of the 44th edition of the “Islamic Cultural Days”, organized by the Tijane Coordination of Dakar, under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, the minister stressed that the Republic of Senegal was able to consolidate civilizational and spiritual relations with Morocco, “which favored the propagation of Sufi teachings to those who aspire to purification among Moroccans in the West African part, and in particular in Senegal”.

This role allowed this Tariqa to play a historic role in strengthening relations of religious and spiritual communication between Morocco and Africa, said Mr. Toufiq, emphasizing the importance of these Islamic cultural days which bring together eminent scholars of Tariqa Tijania and its disciples to discuss the projects and actions of the Zaouias in Senegal, a sister country.

The minister at the same time transmitted the greetings of King Mohammed VI addressed to the Tijane brotherhood, highlighting the high concern with which the Sovereign surrounds the Tijanes and His concern to preserve the distinguished fraternal ties between Morocco and Senegal.

In this context, Mr. Toufiq recalled the place enjoyed by Cheikh Sidi Ahmed Tidjani, founder of the Tariqa, and whose mausoleum, located in the city of Fez, remains a permanent place of visit for followers of the brotherhood from all over. the countries of the world, noting that the late imam made the city of Fez his home, the seat of his zaouia and a place of pilgrimage for his disciples. The Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs also noted that the Tariqa Tijania remains an example of attachment to the precepts of Sharia and the Sunnah of the Prophet, and to the foundations of spiritual purification, while also highlighting the role of the Tariqa Tijania particularly in Senegal, in the resistance and the fight against the colonial occupation and the extremist movements of today.

In a speech read on his behalf, the Caliph General of the Tijianes, Sereigne Babacar Sy Mohamed Mansour, highlighted the role of King Mohammed VI, Amir Al-Mouminine, and His continued actions to preserve religious constants and strengthen spiritual relations between Morocco and Senegal while expressing the commitment of the two countries to consolidate united and active South-South cooperation.

He also highlighted the essential role played by the Institution of the Commandery of Believers in the preservation of religious values ​​and the strengthening of common human bonds in Africa.

The official opening ceremony of the “Islamic Cultural Days”, organized at the esplanade of the Great Mosque of Dakar, and under the honorary presidency of the Senegalese Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, took place in presence in particular of the Senegalese Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Jean Baptiste Tine, the Moroccan ambassador to Senegal, Hassan Naciri, as well as other Moroccan personalities and Senegalese.

Considered one of the biggest events of the Tariqa Tijaniya in Senegal, the Islamic Cultural Days of Dakar have been placed, since 1986, under the High Patronage of the late HM King Hassan II, then under the High Patronage of the King Mohammed VI.

For the organizers, the objective of these Cultural Days, established in 1981 by the late Serigne Abdoul Aziz Sy Dabakh, Caliph General of the Tidianes, consists of consolidating cohesion within the followers of the Tariqa Tijaniya and promoting the values ​​of peace, tolerance and cohabitation between peoples.
