Although Hervé Koffi arrived last summer, RC Lens is looking for another option at No. 1 to replace Brice Samba, leaving for Stade Rennais.
Brice Samba leaving for Stade Rennais, RC Lens is today at a crossroads for its future goalkeeper. If Hervé Koffi arrived last summer, for the moment there is no question of giving the Burkinabe goalkeeper the place of No. 1.
As revealed by Loïc Tanzi (L'Equipe), the Sang et Or are indeed surveying the market in search of a holder (Lafont, Diaw, Cakir, etc.) but the latter will have to fit within very tight economic parameters dictated by shareholder Joseph Oughourlian.
Lens is looking for a No. 1 (for the moment)
Indeed, if Pierre Dréossi (general manager) and Diego Lopez (sporting director) work, it is out of the question to reinvest part or all of the windfall raised on Samba (around €15 million) but indeed to find a doorman on loan with, possibly, an option to purchase at the end of the season.
If the rare pearl is not unearthed with these parameters, then Will Still will have to deal with Hervé Koffi at No. 1 and RC Lens will look for a new understudy. But we're not there yet…
