The Italian Federica Brignone won the giant of Semmering (Austria) on Saturday, counting for the Alpine Skiing World Cup, ahead of the Swede Sara Hector and the New Zealander Alice Robinson.
After setting the best time in the first round on Saturday morning with bib 6, Brignone confirmed his good form by setting the second time in the second round. She won her 29th World Cup victory, the second of the season after her success at the giant in Sölden (Austria) at the end of October.
Victorious at Killington at the beginning of December, Sara Hector finished second at 57/100th, ahead of Alice Robinson who finished 90/100th behind Brignone. Having made a mistake during the second round, Lara Gut-Behrami only finished in ninth place after setting the second time in the first round. This new poor performance confirms a difficult start to the giant season for the Swiss who won the specialty globe last season.
