“In 2025, the Catholic Church will experience an exceptional year with the Jubileea strong time of spiritual renewal, pilgrimages and universal communion. This event, placed under the theme Pilgrims of hopeis an invitation to rediscover faith, prayer, and to bear witness to Christian hope,” announces the diocese of Évreux (Eure).

Decreed by Pope Francis on the theme 'Pilgrims of Hope', the 2025 Jubilee is an ordinary jubilee“because it is part of a pre-established program of the Church, which celebrates it every 25 years, so that each generation can benefit from this year of forgiveness”.

27th Holy Year

For Christians, the ordinary Holy Years celebrated to date number twenty-six, and that of 2025 will be the twenty-seventh.

In the diocese, Mgr Olivier de Cagny, Bishop of Évreux, will open the Holy Year on Sunday December 29, 2024 in Évreux. On this occasion, a pilgrimage is planned between the Saint-Taurin abbey church and Notre Dame cathedral with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the Cathedral for the solemn opening of the Jubilee Year.

The meeting is set for 3 p.m. in front of the Saint-Taurin abbey church, before departure at 3:30 p.m., in procession, towards Notre-Dame cathedral.

Pilgrimages to Rome

Because the city of Rome is “at the heart of this jubilee”, two pilgrimages will be offered to diocesans in 2025: from January 13 to 17 with Mgr Olivier de Cagny and from July 28 to August 4 during the youth jubilee.

For diocesans who will not be able to go to Rome, other pilgrimages are planned to experience this jubilee process: a jubilee pilgrimage to Pontmain the 1is May, with all the dioceses of in the presence of their bishops; a pilgrimage to Notre-Dame de la Couture in Bernay June 9, Pentecost Monday; a pilgrimage to Lourdes from August 23 to 28, chaired by Mgr Olivier de Cagny, with pilgrims from the entire diocese, hospital workers and sick people; a pilgrimage to Pinterville on September 14 in honor of Blessed Father Jacques Désiré .

Finally, every month, the diocese organizes stepswith the bishop, throughout the department. The next ones will take place on January 12, 1is February, March 15, April 26, May 29 and June 21.
