Beaten in the first two derbies of the season, the Rouen Dragons this time did not really give the Gothics of Amiens a chance (4-1), who, diminished, lost for the third time in a row in the championship before hosting Cergy-Pontoise on Monday evening.
“Rouen has become Rouen again”said Mario Richer this Friday, on the eve of the derby. The Dragons are back and they confirmed it on Lacroix Island. They took the match from the right end and Kozun intervened on a throw from Dmytriw. The Canadian goalkeeper, however, could do nothing on Lindelöf's long throw, masked by the traffic in front of him (1-0, 6’06). Already decimated by the injuries of Fouquerel, Besson, Tocquin, Larinmaa and the suspension of Phelan, Amiens lost another element with the premature exit of Djemel, injured in the upper body. The first Amiens lines, although reshuffled, managed to put Setanen to work, who repelled good attempts from Tessier, Gibert and Matima as well as a good wrist shot from Cepon. Despite the Samarian highlight, Rouen regained control of the puck above, but only had a one-goal lead thanks to Kozun, vigilant on Dmytriw's deflection on Chakiachvili's shot and facing Lindelöf.
Despite Bergeron's gap narrowing, after a good stint with Svanenbergs (2-1, 31’28) a few minutes after Vigners, left free of any marking, doubled the lead on a surgical one-timer (2-0, 26’18)the Gothics of Amiens suffered in the second third. The Norman offensives continued and Kozun, sometimes abandoned by his defense, could not keep his team afloat. Especially since it did not take advantage of numerical superiority to come back to the level of the Rouennais. The latter besieged the Amiens goal and the last Canadian rampart intervened as best they could in front of Glad and Perron and was saved by its post on Tomasino's attempt. On a throw-in won by Hervet, the Rouen game quickly shifted to the right side towards the former Amiens Simosen, who found Kozun's small net (3-1, 36’46). The Gothiques goalkeeper had difficulty negotiating Lamperier's throw and benefited from Brittain's save on his line. Decidedly struggling in the face of the intensity shown at the end of the third, Amiens conceded a fourth goal following a poor restart from Tessier, Lindelöf took advantage and slipped the puck between Kozun's boots (4-1, 38’50).
Rouen holds its first derby of the season
The Gothics had difficulty finishing the second half, the third was not easy either, the fault of the penalties conceded by Brittain then Matima. The Normans, with total newfound confidence, continued to unfold their score. Colomban came close to deceiving Kozun by deflecting the puck on Tommila's throw, eccentric to the right. Despite the numerical inferiority, Svnanenbergs took advantage of a slip from Yeo to appear alone against Setanen, but the latter relaxed completely and repelled the Latvian's attempt which came close to reducing the score. The number 72 had another opportunity to revive his team, but, at point blank range, he missed his shot. With three goals in advance, since Lampérier's achievement was refused for an offensive presence in the slot, the Rouennais managed their lead, allowing them to win their first derby of the season, the first two had been won by the Amiens. The latter conceded a third defeat in a row in the championship before hosting the Cergy-Pontoise Jokers this Monday, November 30 at the Coliseum.
