As usual, Monday December 23, the Pensio pharmacy, located rue du Pensionnat-de-Notre-Dame, received a customer with a prescription at the beginning of the afternoon. But the patient's prescription seemed suspicious. Faced with this doubt, health professionals decided to retain the man, aged 38, to carry out checks.
The prescription presented comes from the Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Paris. This detail attracts the attention of pharmacists who call the establishment which reveals to them that the doctor who issued this prescription does not exist. The police have not been notified.
An attempted scam estimated at 150 euros
On the document, several medications are prescribed, including antidiabetics, anticoagulants and also equipment to measure blood sugar levels. Products that sell very well abroad according to certain sources. Some are used to lose weight but present a health risk if their primary use is misused.
The police were therefore able to arrest the thirty-year-old in flagrante delicto of fraud against the pharmacy. In total, the damage would have been 150 euros if the pharmacists had not recognized the deception. Originally from Lyon, the man was placed in police custody. During his hearing, he allegedly stated that the order was given to him in Lyon and that he believed it to be true. The accused was released the next day with a summons to a hearing in May 2025 to explain his actions to the courts.
