In the video released by the American justice system, we see an inmate named Robert Brooks being brought into a medical examination room by prison guards. From the start, the authorities tried to shove a white cloth into the prisoner’s mouth before beating him. After a rare scene of violence, the man is violently picked up before being slammed against a window while he is still handcuffed. A few minutes later, the video shows him unconscious, lying on the examination table.

Robert Brooks died overnight in hospital from asphyxia due to neck compression, according to the first autopsy. An image that shocked America. “I’m shocked that things like this can still happen”, says an American citizen. The surveillance cameras worn by the officers were not activated. However, even in standby mode, they still record 10 minutes of video. The New York Attorney General insisted on publicly releasing the images. An investigation was opened, 13 officers involved in this attack as well as a nurse were suspended from their duties.
