Controversy surrounding the padel courts of a luxury hotel very close to the Palace of

The Trianon Palace in (), a luxury hotel owned by businessman Michel Ohayon, recently installed three padel courts at the back of its park. The latter are sheltered by an imposing metal structure almost seven meters high, covered with a fabric tarpaulin intended to protect the players from bad weather, details 78 Actu Monday December 23.

Problem is, this installation visible from the park of the Château de Versailles was carried out without any prior request to the town planning services or the Architects of Buildings of . However, this is a mandatory procedure in this protected sector of the national domain. As a result, the project would not have any legal authorization.

Mayor and disgruntled residents

“If they do not take into account what we asked of them and the situation has not changed in January, we will file a complaint,” reacted François de Mazières, mayor of Versailles, quoted by The Parisian. According to the councilor, any request for authorization would have been rejected due to the classified nature of the site. Many local residents share his indignation. 160 people signed a petition opposing the structure.

The hotel communications department of the Financière Immobilière Bordelaise (FIB) group has described the matter as “non-subject”. The group, however, proposed aesthetic adjustments, such as painting elements green for better integration “with the abundant nature” surrounding.
