A young firefighter shot Monday, December 24 in the evening in a bar in Ajaccio has diedannounced Tuesday the prosecution, which favored the “track of a private dispute” after this news item in which six other people were injured.
According to the first elements of the investigation, a man who was inside the establishment “le Lamparo”, a seaside bar, opened fire around 11:30 p.m. against another person who frequented the bar, specified Nicolas Septe, the public prosecutor of Ajaccio, in a press release.
“The trail of a private dispute “occurred within the establishment between the perpetrator of the gunshots and the deceased victim is currently the theory favored by the investigators without any other avenue being able to be excluded from the outset,” he added.
Four injured people were treated on site and three others presented themselves to the emergency room. One of the injured, the young firefighter, in an absolute emergency, died Tuesday as a result of his injuries, according to the prosecution.
“Attempted murder and murder”
A criminal judicial investigation was opened at the end of the day for “attempted murder and murder“, and entrusted to the interdepartmental management of the national police of Corsica-du-Sud.
“At this stage, the person identified as the perpetrator is believed to be around forty years old and is actively sought by the judicial police,” added the prosecution.
The facts caused a lot of emotions in Corsica. “Aiacciu (Ajaccio in Corsican language) and Corsica mourns one of their childrenwhose life was taken, and several seriously injured. The time has come for mourning. There will necessarily come that of collective reflection to put an end to this madness,” wrote Gilles Simeoni, president of the Corsican community, on X.
“Human life seems paltry in the face of weapons“, said the mayor of Ajaccio, Stéphane Sbraggia, on X.
The Ajaccio public prosecutor's office has launched a call for witnesses: “Any person who has information to provide to investigators is asked to contact the Ajaccio judicial police services.”
On the night of November 15 to 16, the boss of Lamparo was hit by two shots in the leg in front of his establishment, without his life being in danger. A man was remanded in custody for attempted homicide.
Tuesday evening, the prefect of Corsica-du-Sud took a two-month closure order for Lamparostressing that the “management of this trade constitutes a source of serious disturbance to public order due to the criminal and misdemeanor acts which have taken place there” and that “the risk of reprisals is significant”.
