At the Local Mission, 4 rue du Docteur-Rahuel, the new reception and waiting area was inaugurated on Thursday December 19. Juliana Turpin, integration advisor, explains: “It was designed and fitted out by and for young people from ML in an eco-responsible approach”.

The development was possible thanks to funding via the eco-furniture tax managed in the Saint-Brieuc agglomeration by Kerval, and a partnership with the association “On n'est pas que des crates”. 19 young people participated, with the aim of putting them in a project dynamic, to promote and develop their skills and to leave room for taking initiative. They first collected opinions and then, through three design workshops and ten construction workshops, carried out the installation.

A friendly space, and the pride of home-made

Chairs, a coffee table, a storage unit, a screen, two pieces of furniture for recharging your smartphone, and a display panel now occupy the space to make it user-friendly. Among the young people aged between 20 and 22, Tony worked on the screen and did painting, thus becoming a master painter. “I did sanding, cleaning, sewing and handling the screw gun. But above all, I did photo monitoring of the construction site,” confides Emilia. Anne Cavart, for the association “On n'est pas des crates”, specialized in recycling and second life, displays a big smile at the sight of the result and the good atmosphere which marked this partnership.

Thiphany is happy to be able to “give new life to old furniture” and everyone was proud of the work done.
