The winegrowers of the Fédération des Vignerons Indépendants from Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur-Corsica make an appointment for Reading Nights from January 23 to 26, 2025.
Art&Vin innovates and offers the public ever more opportunities to discover the region's remarkable estates with its OFF festival. In 2025, the independent winegrowers of PACA-Corsica will open their cellars and cellars to host stories and readings by candlelight. A special moment to experience with friends or family to share the taste of words and wine (for older children), in all simplicity!
The Independent Winegrowers Readings: an intimate and collective heritage
L’initiative “Independent Winegrowers Readings” is part of the L projectReading Nightssupported by the Ministry of Culture and the National Book Center.
This year, it’s time to (re)discover heritage. That of the intimate, of what our ancestors bequeathed to us: the family history, real or fabulous, which is still relevant today. It is also the collective heritage, that of a common heritage, which is measured on the scale of a territory, a nation and sometimes, of humanity.
Through the work of the vines and the land, independent winegrowers live and bring this heritage to life on a daily basis. Thus, it is quite natural that they decide to offer the public moments of sharing and discovery, by the light of a candle, to immerse themselves in a story that is both intimate and collective.
Walk in Provence to the rhythm of words
For a suspended moment, between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes, the winemaker transforms into a storyteller: a master of words who takes his guests to discover what is dear to him through the tasting of words and wines .
From January 23 to 26, 2025, several estates in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and Corsica will welcome the Readers of Independent Winegrowers.

January 25, 2025 at Domaine du Deffends
The reading proposed by the winegrowers of Domaine du Deffends is based around the work of Susan Glaspell BROUTILLES (Trifles). American writer and journalist, Susan Glaspelle is today unanimously hailed as a classic of American theater and is studied in all universities, both in literature, law and gender studies courses. The resolutely feminist play will come to life at the Domaine du Deffend: a denunciation of the oppression and social invisibility suffered by women at the beginning of the 20th century as still today in any patriarchal society. Perched on a plateau dominating 400 m above sea level, the exceptional site of Domaine du Deffends offers a clear view of the Southern Alps. This family estate is conducted in organic farming. “Our wines are organic and our vines are managed in compliance with charters and rules. But we go further, we take into account a global approach to exploitation in its environment,” affirm these enthusiasts. Thanks to close work with ADEME, Bio de Provence and the SUD Region, the winegrowers of the Deffends estate have access to a technical diagnosis which allows them to monitor the main indicators of biodiversity and input management. “And we are constantly improving,” they rejoice.
