Regional 1 – The results. Encouragement or Congratulations from the jury? The Indep class council decided to award the Encouragement to FUN, ratifying a good start to the season while pointing out too great a lack of realism in front of the cages.
When looking at the first four months of the FU Narbonne’s 2024-2025 season in Regional 1, we can clearly indicate that the club’s results are satisfactory. If we had the Certificate of Aptitude for Secondary Education Teaching, we would score a 14 out of 20 on the FUN. A B or a C+ if you poorly digested the beef bourguignon from the night before. Ten matches, five wins, two draws, three defeats, 15 goals scored and 13 conceded, 17 points for sixth place out of 14. Suitable in this very tough Group A. In commentary, we would add that FU Narbonne plays quite well but misses far too many chances. Much more than the average club.
An observation shared by coach Farid Diaf: “We are indeed missing too many opportunities. We will find the answer in the work. The work in front of the goal. We are clearly looking for realism. We have to work in front of the goal.” For the technician, it is at this price that the Narbonnais will be able to come and tickle the biggest engines at the head of the group. “I also believe that the three defeats we suffered (at Vauvert 2-0, at Saint-Clément Montferrier 3-1, and at home against Grau du Roi, Editor’s note) were avoidable. Some players sometimes lacked aggressiveness in the transmission, losing the ball, so we conceded too many goals. Maybe because our bench is not strong enough…”
January will determine the rest of the season
One certainty: overall, Diaf is satisfied with the behavior of his players. “Given the level of this group, we are frankly happy. And with president Moustapha Bouzbiba, our sports director Sofian Halmouti, and the group as a whole, we continue to move forward with the same objective: to obtain maintenance as quickly as possible. and then see if we can achieve something against the strongest, Montpellier Atlas and Grau du Roi.”
It must also be said that FUN was not spared by injuries and absences: Adil Chalkha (injured), Pierrick Fito (injured), Yakcin Oymak (mourning), very important elements were in turn missing, in their team, at some point during the season. And as the FUN sidelines do not contain a plethora of solutions, these defections were not easy to manage for the staff. “Some players wanted to leave or stop, which means that the bench is not very full but we really wanted this group to live well and that everyone on the pitch was happy to be part of the club,” summarizes Farid Diaf.
“I say that we showed very good things all the same. At Atlas, we were leading 2-0 before being caught… If we win there maybe the rest will be different… And I remind you that we is only the 10th budget of the division So, we are not at all worried, what will count is the final ranking, last year we were first before collapsing in March. prefer to finish better There, we are focused on. January, we have three important matches: the trip to Nîmes on the 11th, the reception of Lunel on the 18th, and the trip to Canet-en-Roussillon on the 26th. At the end of January, we will know what we are really capable of. rest of the season”, concludes the coach.
Resumption of training on December 23.
