The members of the Entraide Cancer en Finistère association met at a general meeting, Saturday morning, December 7, at the Le Chantier restaurant. More than 70 people attended out of the 175 members of the structure which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.
Michèle About and Hélène Rannou, the two co-presidents, presented the moral and financial reports, and insisted on the values of listening, support and sharing that the association conveys. Recognized as being of public utility, it is aimed at adults suffering from cancer, and has set up a telephone hotline which operates 7 days a week, as well as regular meetings in Quimper, Pont-l'Abbé, Douarnenez, Concarneau, Melgven and Plonévez-du-Faou. It also offers adapted physical activities, art therapy, yoga, reflexology, beauty treatments, as well as emergency financial aid. It also participates in the purchase of equipment for the services of the Cornouaille hospital center, as well as local hospitals. Their resources come mainly from donations, legacies and memberships, and the two administrators insisted on their exclusively local investment. Thus, a four-day stay in Glénan to highlight the benefits of sport was organized in May, and will be renewed in 2025. After warmly thanking the volunteers for their investment and their quality of conviviality in order to make people forget the concerns of the sick, everyone was able to share a very appreciated meal.
