It’s a case that caused a stir in Canada. Particularly in the small town of Saint-Anselme, southeast of Quebec. A French woman, originally from Saint-Dizier in Haute-Marne, died following a robbery that went wrong, according to the Quebec newspaper and the Haute-Marne newspaper.

Thursday, November 28, a man entered the O Mini Prix store, specializing in the sale of professional clothing. According to the Sûreté du Québec, the local police, cited by the media, he opened fire several times on the two employees. One, aged 25, was seriously injured, and the second, aged 32, died on the spot.

The suspect fled on foot. He has still not been found and is being sought by local police. “She was a very kind person, she wouldn't have hurt a fly, she was someone who was introverted. A girl who doesn't bother anyone, I can tell you that she was highly appreciated whether in France or even in Quebec”testifies his very moved sister, contacted by France 3 Champagne-Ardenne on Tuesday December 3.

“My little sister had a passion, it was cooking. She studied in this direction before finding it perhaps a little too arduous after 10 years in the profession. which led her to do the job where she was currently. She worked for 10 years in the kitchen because she still had a BTS in hotel management. Yes, after 10 years, I think she was a little tired. My sister wanted a change of pace. because she wanted to found a family and the hotel business was too busy. She was very cute, she was a very beautiful girl who took care of herself, she was very mischievous. That's why everyone loved her. It’s always little jokes or little smirks like a little goblin who’s awake.”

Devastated by grief, her companion, Rémy, describes Justine as “gentleness personified, she was loving and ready to help anyone in need. My soul mate was taken away from me, it was she who gave me a taste for life again.”

The store manager is also in shock. He sent a press release to the Canadian media: “We would like to offer our most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of our employee, victim of this tragic event, as well as a speedy recovery to our colleague […] Above all, we wish to assure the families of our support in these sad and trying circumstances for all of us,” said Benjamin Croft-Robichaud.

The entire municipality of Saint-Anselme is marked by this sad news item. It is a town of 4000 inhabitants, usually rather quiet. A command post was set up near the scene of the tragedy and police reinforcements were deployed. Here is the press release from the municipality of Saint-Anselme:

The victim is Justine Hertemann. The young woman had gone to live in Canada at the same time as her sister, Tiffany. She also opened an online fundraiser to finance the repatriation of her sister's body to Haute-Marne, where her funeral will be celebrated. On December 3, it totaled 9,405 Canadian dollars. “My sister, Justine, was murdered Thursday, November 28 in St-Anselme at her workplace during an alleged robbery. We are helpless and left to our own devices by the local authorities. The funeral will take place in , as soon as the Quebec authorities have returned the body. specifies the victim's older sister. “Our parents are in France and we are coordinating as best we can the administrative procedures to bring Justine home and give her a decent funeral.”
