The skipper of the trimaran Sodebo and his crew turned around after severe damage.
End of attempt for Thomas Coville and his crew in the Jules Verne Trophy. “After a little over 16 days at sea, the crew of Sodebo Ultim 3 must end its attempt at the Jules Verne Trophy this Monday, January 6. While sailing between Kerguelen and Cape Leeuwin, at more than 30 knots, Thomas Coville and his six crew noticed the loss of the central rudder.announced his crew this Monday at lunchtime.
Started on December 20, this crewed round-the-world record attempt ended with damage to the central rudder which had already forced Coville to give up for the first time on December 3. The boat returned to its home port before leaving again and then counting ahead of the record time before giving up in the rough seas of the deep south.
