Massive outage of Internet services in Russia

A massive outage of internet services occurred in Russia on Monday due to an incident on the network of one of the providers, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technologies and Media announced (Roskomnadzor).

« The cause of the massive service outage was an accident on the backbone network of one of the telecom operators. As of 2:00 p.m., the accident has been eliminated, the operation of services is being restored“, the Russian regulatory authority said in a press release.

According to the real-time monitoring site for Internet service problems “ Downdetector“, outages were observed among telecom operators, search engines, social networks and banking applications.

Most often, users complained about the poor performance of Google, Yandex, VKontakte, Rutube and the T-Bank application, specifies the same source.
