“A fight Sid couldn’t win.” It is in particular with these terrible words that the family of the very young minibike champion Sid Veijer announced the death of the child. He was barely 7 years old.
The young boy, champion of the Netherlands, died on Sunday January 5 following serious injuries suffered during an accident that occurred a few days earlier on a karting track. Sid Veijer was seriously injured in the head, face and several organs.

“Last Monday there was a slight improvement in the situation,” write the family members, in a text published on the Veijer Racing Instagram account. “By the end of the week, that spotlight turned into the darkest storyline ever and a fight Sid couldn’t win.”
“Sid fought like a lion,” the text continues. “We – Reinold and Rianne, Boyd, Muck and Loek – fought with him until the last minute with everything we had in us, the doctors and nurses did what they could… Sid died this afternoon (Sunday 5, Editor’s note) surrounded by his warm family.”

I am very proud to be your cousin and I will never forget the wonderful times we spent together, even if I wasn’t with you much.”
